AND SO SHE BEGINS.........AGAIN

AUGUST ~ THE HARVEST HAS BEGUN
~The bountiful harvest that are to come and the ripening fruits that are to bare her loving gifts of tireless work. Reap her rewards and waste none, for soon her fullness will be done~




AUGUST 1ST.......~ LAMMAS. BLESSED ARE THE BOUNTIES OF THE FIRST HARVEST~ WHEAT AND BARLEY.....Bake a taste bread...but be mindful of the season to come and for every cup you consume, put away two.

AUGUST 5TH......~CELTIC TREE MONTH HAZEL BEGINS~
~Hazel brings enlightenment and inspiration.
Grace your alter this month with a few Hazelnuts and a hazelnut scented candle...

AUGUST 10TH......GATHER YOUR FIRE TOOLS~
~Candles, small sticks, wicks...just to name a few... prepare your hearth for the season to come

AUGUST 15TH.....TIE YARROW FOR YOUR HEARTH...
~The dried flowers grant courage and protection for the dark season ahead

AUGUST 20TH.....GATHER WHEAT EARS FOR THE SPELLS OF ABUNDANCE.....
~ Enlist the powers of Demeter, Greek Goddess of Grain....Be mindful to ask for only what you are worthy and rightfully due.

AUGUST 24TH.....FULL MOON....RIPENING MOON, CORN MOON, MOTHER MOON..
~ Many believe that this is the moon of the ever eternal MOTHER GODDESS.
Work your spells for good weather and a bountiful harvest this evening and give thanks for the things to come with a wreath in her honor of corn silk and sunflowers placed on or near your hearth


AUGUST 30TH....BEGIN THE PLANS FOR MABON...

  5. Friendship bread....Do share the recipe. Lets hope I do not have to grow yeast on the top of my fridge. I jacked up an Amish recipe once and the smell was HORRIFIC. Sooooo Thankful my destiny was not to bonnets, and buggies.
    I do love the Amish furniture.....

    Is Friendship bread Amish bread? I need a calorie count and a carb breakdown please!

  7. Ok here it is...I was going to write it out earlier but fell asleep while reading blogs. I woke up around 10pm with a phone (Emily's phone) in my ear thinking the call was for me. It was a friend of hers but anyway:
    Friendship Bread

    DO NOT REFRIGERATE BAG!!!!
    Day 1: Do nothing(this is the day after separating the batches)
    Day 2: Mush bag
    Day 3: Mush bag
    Day 4: Mush bag
    Day 5: Mush bag
    Day 6: Add to bag 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar and one cup of milk, then yep you guessed it...Mush bag
    Day 7: Mush bag
    Day 8: Mush Bag
    Day 9: Mush bag
    Day 10: Follow the instructions below--
    1. Pour the entire bag into a non-metal bowl
    2. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups milk and mix.
    3. Meaure out 4 seperate batters of 1 cup into 4 (1) gallon zipper bags: keep starter for yourself and give to three friends.
    5. To the remaining batter in bowl add:
    a. 3 eggs
    b. 1 cup of oil or 1/2 cup of applesauce
    and 1/2 cup oil.
    c. 1/2 cup milk
    d. 1 cup of sugar
    e. 2 teaspoons cinnamon
    f. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    g. 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    h. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    i. 1/2 teaspoon salt
    j. 2 cups flour
    k. 2 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding
    mix.
    6. Grease 2 large loaf pans and mix an
    additional 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 1/2
    teaspoons of cinnamon. Split the mixture in
    half and use one of the halves to evenly
    dust the greased loaf pans. Pour the batter
    evenly into the pans and sprinkle with the
    remaining sugar mixture over both. Bake for
    1 hour; cool until bread loosens evenly;
    turn onto serving dish, serve warm or cool.
    Lemon Variation:
    Exchange vanilla for 1 teaspoon of lemon extract.
    Exchange vanilla pudding miz for lemon pudding mix.
    omit cinnamon
    use plain suger for dusting pans and sprinkling tops.
    Optional poppy seeds can be used to taste.
    * Only the Amish know how to create the starter so if you give them away you have to wait until someone gives you one back. ENJOY!!!
